I have always said that before you make your opinion about someone or something, you need to get the proper facts about the situation. It is never really a fair judgment if you don’t know the full story of what you may be getting yourself into. I am always asking questions and trying my best to prepare myself for any situation. Having a back up plan for the back up plans. I feel like the people around me, that has to do with the situation, could get annoyed at the constant curiosity. The thing is, I like knowing the facts.

This past week I came across some encounters with people and they seemed to think that they could make judgments based off the premise that they thought they had enough information. Little did they know, they were way off their rockers…. Someone accused Fudge, my guide dog, of being a fake guide dog. This was blamed on the fact that she stood up in a restaurant and walked to where I was standing with my mum. It took her a full four steps to get to us. The equivalent to one human step…. Now I am not sure, but a guide dog coming to stand next to me, does not offset the fact that said guide dog, losing her qualification of being a registered guide dog.

Another incident was the fact that someone directed a comment at me. Obviously being blind, I do not always notice when people are talking to me, unless they use my name or we have already been in a conversation. As this was one of the times where I showed up at the wrong time and someone thought they would direct a comment that I was totally oblivious too, I did not know they were talking to me. This let to them swearing me for the fact they thought I was flat out ignoring them.

I just need to make something very clear….

I do not appreciate it when suspicious, accusations or opinions are made when the full story is not clearly laid on the table. I do not feel that these are valid and I certainly do not take them seriously. It can just SLIGHTLY get on my nerves when it happens to me and I do not even get a chance to clear the air. Get a chance to state the full story and facts. People have no right to go around having accusations when they do not have the proper information. They certainly do not have the right to attack a person base off an assumption. But hey, I guess it is a part of the process of growing up. We learn to deal with situations like these and know what to do or how to react.

Just for all those who would take an interest in reading this far… please insure that you do not put people in unfair situations as you are not properly informed of what you are making a judgment about. Never throw in the air, things that you do not have the proper education behind. It is not fair and it is not valid to have a say when the other person is being place at the mercy of assumptions or untruths. If you would like to have an opinion or make a judgment, educate yourself on the topic and make sure that you are not classifying yourself under the title of an unfair judge. Classifying yourself as someone who is naive to putting in effort to actually making any form of accusations.

“And the quality of good judgement is clearly a form of knowledge and skill, as it is because of knowledge and not because of ignorance that we judge well.”
