For those of you that don’t know and for those who do, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor at the age of eleven. Once it was removed, it was sent in to be checked for cancer and such things. Luckily for me, it came back as negative in terms of all it was tested for but at the time it all happened, I could not help thinking how much worse I would have been off it had come back positive.
A gentlemen got in contact with me this week to tell me how he had found my website via a post I had done a while ago for the veterans. He then proceeded to tell me about veterans that are badly affected by cancer. A substance called asbestos, which is used tremendously in the military, causes up to two thirds of cancer cases. Because asbestos has properties that are often used in the military, it is unavoidable for the veterans. They are in constant contact with the substance and due to this, the rate of mesothelioma are high and very concerning.
I just wanted to share a page he sent to me for you guys to check out. It is pretty incredible that these people know that there are these high-risk issues, yet they keep doing their jobs. Someone has to take on these responsibilities and it can be said that these brave veterans definitely take it on strong.
These veterans must be affected in some way by taking on the risk of being exposed to asbestos and this type of cancer, the veterans and their families. I am so grateful each day to know that I didn’t have to face something like that. Considering how rare my tumor was, it is a definite give that I was lucky and will forever be grateful for the health that I have. I respect these veterans and their families for putting up the fight for these kinds of challenges that have to be faced. Sometimes the world presents phases that are not so pretty and sometimes only the bravest of us can face these moments. Just want to share the awareness, hope you’ll take some interest.
