Man, am I glad that there is a day like this to celebrate. If there was one day that I could definitely set as a holiday, it would have been this one. An ENTIRE day dedicated so all people simultaneously celebrating happiness and joy. A day where there is an ACTUAL reason to be happy and never stop smiling. I’m pleased to write this blog, based on the fact that this day was the greatest way to end of my first half of the semester at university.
I have been putting in a lot of energy this semester, into my studies. We haven’t always been at campus however but when I had work that had to be done, I made sure to do it right the first time. I had two tests this week and I put a huge amount of energy into studying for these tests and I think it resulted in a real positive way. Those tests went really well and I have no regrets after all the stress.
One thing that pushed me into studying so hard for these tests, was the fact that I had a dive trip this past weekend. It was a weekend to look forward to and I had no hesitation to go. The only thing was that I was writing those two semester tests the day after we got back home. Each spare moment, waiting for the bonfire or grabbing some time before going for dinner, I would sit and study. Everyone thought I was a bit weird, studying on a trip, but it had to be done. I am not going to lie though, I thought the studying was going to be a failed idea this weekend. From the minute we got to the lodge, the vibe changed and it felt like pure joy and relief to know we would be in the great blue. My mind was far from psychology and dramatical twentieth century plays. I forced myself though, to focus and reflecting now, on this beautiful day of happiness, I am glad I did.
I was also fortunate enough to spend my morning at the yard. Having a day to mirror all the reasons its great to be alive, is the BEST thing ever. I made sure to enjoy each moment taking each jump in the arena this morning. Having the fabulous knowledge that this was yet another great reason to be alive. All the things that put a smile on our face is pretty much what today is based on. If you think about it, this international day of happiness can be celebrated by so many people and it can be looked at from so many dimensions and perspectives.
When people ask what your purpose is, would it not be the obvious thing to think of those things that make you smile. Is it not obvious to think of the moments that make life worth remembering. We don’t want to be in a world where we are always just going with the flow. There has to be purpose. There has to be enjoyment. There has to be a day to remind us that there is so much to take for granted, if we don’t pay attention to all the little things that make us smile. Even if it is the worst dad jokes….
P.S. I was going to share the things that make me happy, but the blog went on for thousands of years… I will just put in some photos…
