Summer is finally in the air. Can you smell it? It brings back so many memories. The feeling of the warm air gives me such an excited feeling. A feeling for new beginnings and new opportunities. When the weather starts turning and changing from winter to spring, I get reminded that the world around us regrows. It’s recreating itself and starting afresh. The beauty showing all around us. It’s almost like an indirect hint that we could do something similar.
Memories of riding horses on the beach front. Swimming with horses in a lake. Hiking a rock faced mountain, coming so close to spraining my ankle because I couldn’t make out the unleveled ground. Snorkeling over coral. Taking a boat out to go dolphin and whale watching. Driving to the top of the highest peak of an island.
All these memories just brought by the feeling of summer. I’m not trying to brag in the least but I want to be able to share these stories with you all in order to get a message across that there are so many adventures and opportunities to be missed in life in we don’t seize them by the horns.
I always try and live with no regrets and sometimes that means doing crazy things like scuba diving as a legally blind person. I might not be able to see what’s around me. Missing great moments and terrifying ones at the same time, but if I had to spend any amount of time pondering on whether I should or should not do something… well, I would probably find a million and three reasons to ditch the adventure and stay firmly on the ground.
I don’t want a life that is restricted by my disability, and I certainly don’t want any of you to restrict your life experiences for whatever reason. We should jump for the fun and the thrill. Leap for the excitement and success. Being aware of the situation but not letting it stop us from being ourselves. Not letting it stop us from living a life we can look back on and just smile and be glad that we live a little close to the edge. Close enough to see the amazing view but not close enough to fall right off. I strongly encourage you to let go of the stress and let loose the crazy side. The side of you that you might not be entirely aware of, yet you know you want to discover.
Take a page out of my book. I was so close to being taken from this amazing world before I could do any of this totally mental stuff. So, the fact that I get a second go at it…
Well, I’m gonna take it and make sure I make it the craziest ride of my life.
P, S. I hear so many people calling me crazy for doing all these insane this, but I must say… I much rather prefer the wild side.
