I’m sure you have all heard a saying along the lines of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I find this saying very true and very applicable to certain life aspects. In life, we come across situations that we might not be the happiest about. We think of any chance or opportunity that we can take to adjust the situation. Sometimes, we can’t fix it though. Sometimes, things are the way they are for a reason, even if we can’t see the benefits to the situation.
I have come across people who are at a constant battle with the things in life that they are not content with. They fight it and fight it, but nothing seems to change. My theory is that, maybe they are in this specific phase of their life for a reason. There are moments we have to face and learn from before we can move on. Most times we can’t move on until we have learned the lesson behind it. When we come across the tough stretches in life, we often seek out the easy way out so as not to feel the hurt it may be inflicting. We try find a form of avoiding the situation, thinking it will fix the problem or situation that you are facing at the time. This could lead to an even more painful ending. It is like ripping off a band aid really slowly compared to just ripping it off in a few seconds. We have to consider the long-term effect of the choices we make in life. In the short term, they might seem like the right thing to do but in the long term, we could just be leading ourselves to a harder bridge to cross.
There are also moments in life that we think are not the right place for us in the moment and we search for what we think is the place to be. This could cause a delay in our growth and learning through the experience that we are supposed to be in. instead of creating new obstacles, we should learn to face the ones in front of us and once we pass those, we can then start the search for the next adventurous mission we can accomplish. We should never get too ahead of ourselves because we will lose track of our present selves. If we get too caught up in the problems we face, we tend to not register the good things we have at the time. We get consumed in the struggle to find the relief of air and space away from the obstacles life throws at us, we don’t recognise the god sitting right in front of us.
In the end, we need to ensure that we remember the good things we have around us. It is absolutely necessary to help us climb over the walls in our paths. Its part of the mentality. If you know why and what you are fighting for then you will achieve your goal faster than if you were fighting for nothing. In the psychological world, it has been shown that just the pure belief of seeing the right change you want, will effectively lead you to that change. All you need is the belief in what you want to see. Not the sight of all the things that are resulting in you rising to move forward.
“Find the confidence in whatever way you can to just keep moving onto the next page. The only way you will finish projects and get better is to keep moving forward.” – Charles Forsman
