From the mannequin challenge to the renegade, now the “ Luh Twizzy” … it’s pretty crazy how new trends pop up, out of nowhere. Totally unexpected but then somehow the whole globe is taking part. Some trends are absolutely fun and super quirky yet others…. Not so much.
Lately on the news, there has been much word going around about a specific trend. This trend being where teenagers hit up malls, but this last time it happened, things got a bit out of control. It is crazy to think that a silly idea could spontaneously turn up being the latest ‘thing’, but on the other hand it’s even crazier when said idea causes chaos where people could actually be at risk.
For those of you who have not heard about “Luh Twizzy”, there are a teenage gang. A gang made up of youngsters who dress in black and cover their faces to remain anonymous. These groups get together in malls to hog lifts and run around causing a disturbance to local shoppers whilst drinking or smoking.
This is just an example of how sometimes it is not really the coolest thing to try blend in with the crowd. Trying to keep up with the latest “happenings” that might make you part of the ‘cool crowd’. I would say it’s not worth it. If you are risking what could potentially be your future, by taking part in trends that put other innocent people in the way of danger… I don’t think so.
I was never one to follow the trend as I grew up. I mean, I only got TikTok after I turned nineteen and I barely even use it other than posting for my actual influencing and motivating. I am super glad, especially, for the reason of not getting into the habit of following trends. In my personal opinion, trends can be a lot of fun, but it takes away some parts of our uniqueness in the way we try and follow what others are doing. I have nothing against taking part in these trends of course, but it just hasn’t been my strong suit. I am mostly clueless about the latest trends, this one however I have heard quite a bit of on the news. It has been causing a bit of disruptions and doesn’t seem to be very liked by many, except those taking part in it, I guess.
This reason behind me telling you all this, is because I don’t want to be a voice that could have said something yet, didn’t. I don’t want to be a reason that someone follows a trend that could risk who they are and what they could possibly be in the future. I would love each person to have fun during their lifetime, whilst growing up but also insuring that the right choices are made. Choices that could keep you and the other people around you safe from unnecessary drama or danger.
