“All roads lead to Rome.” that’s how the saying goes, doesn’t it?  The mass meaning of this is kind of mind boggling. Think about it, there are thousands of roads across the world. THOUSANDS!! I guess that makes it easier though because there are THAT many options of road to choose from to supposedly get to Rome. There is a point to this, just bare with me.

The past few days I have had the thought of my future on my mind. It has been super annoying and frustrating  because it has been all I can think about lately, but this week I had a conversation with my mum. It made me realise that thinking about what still has to come is pointless. I am not being negative, let me explain. You see, it has been playing on my mind for a while.

‘What is going to happen Jess?’

‘What are you going to do Jess?’

‘How are you going to make a living Jess?’

‘Are the choices you making, the right ones Jess?’

Well, I have no answers for any of these. The one thing I do know, is that whatever is meant to happen, will happen.

I have decided that I am not going to freak out about something I cannot necessary control. I just have to trust that the choices I make are the right ones at the time. All the choices I make will finally end in me getting to where I am meant to be going. “All roads lead to Rome.” Whoever started the trend of this  quote was either really bored that he followed each road to Rome or he just had a point. I hope it is the latter…

No one really knows what or where they should be during their journey through life. Unless they are one of those genius people who have planned out their lives since they were three years old. So just know that if you face this road in life, don’t panic and think you are lost. This is going to sound SO Cringy, but eventually your GPS will catch signal again and you will be back on the right path. We often have to get lost before we can find the proper route to where we are meant to be.

People often make you feel like you should know where and what you want to be in the future. They make you feel like it should be the simplest thing in the world to decide. Well, I would just like to say that not even those people really know if they are where they are meant to be. Not going to lie, having a disability makes planning the future a bit more complex, but sometimes you just have to go where the road takes you. No directions, just you and the road. You make the decisions on which direction to take. You have to follow your gut because if you get consumed by the pressure of others… you might just make all the wrong decisions that will make your life the total opposite of what you want. Trust yourself. Trust that you will eventually get to where you want to be. Trust that “All roads lead to Rome.”
