In today’s blog, I’m going all the way with a cliche, just hear me out. So, I don’t know if all of you are football fans, but this year is the FIFA World cup.  I haven’t really been into the whole football vibe but this year it changed for me. This year was a bigger deal than usual. We got together with family and all gathered in front of the tv to support all the great players. The thing about my family is that we support the blood line of Portuguese, but there were some unexpected turns in the matches that threw out teams we had thought would make it to the semifinals yet alone finals but…

Ok, let me get to the point of why I’m even talking about football on my page. One of the last matches I watched with my family, I took the time to actually study the reactions and behavior of the players and the viewers of the match. It occurred to me that the team was as strong as the weakest player, which I am sure many of you have heard before. I also noticed that the team fed off the energy of the game, the supporters and their own will to succeed in the match. It occurred to me that life is exactly the same.

I know, I know…

‘Really… is she comparing life to a football match …?  football nerd.’

The thing is life is really like this…. We have our opponents. We have our successful wins. Sometimes we lose. We feed off the energy around us. All these things are crucial components in life because it gives us the drive to keep pushing till the end of the match. Our match might not last only 90 minutes, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t handle the lifelong match of beating our opponents. We need the support and energy of the people around us to keep us motivated and determined focused on our goals.

Look, this is the first year I have really been into the whole football season and might not know as much as other football fans. I do know though, that like football, whatever sport you may be interested in, is similar. I beg you sport lovers, to use these sports to put your situation into perspective and motivate you. If you compare and try to relate problems or such things to events that interest you, these said things can and may be solved and pushed through in a less painful way. Life will always come at you from an unexpected angle, you need to learn the easiest and most natural way to approach and conquer those kinds of yellow that you receive.

Ps. I told you this would be a cliche, but it might help some of you approach these kinds of issues at a different angle. An unexpected angle. Give it a try.
