I am sure we have all come across the time in our lives, where we ask what our purpose on this earth is. If you haven’t reached this point yet, either you’re very lucky and know what your purpose is or you’re still getting to that point in your life. Either way, when this moment arises, it’s a pretty crucial decision that might be the beginning of your reputation. Finding your niche is possibly one of the best things you can do during the course of your life. As I grew up, I thought I had luckily found my niche from a really young age, but an eleven-hour surgery changed that very quickly…
I always thought sports was ‘my thing’. I took part in six different sports during my primary schooling years. Sure, I had come across an instrument or two, but it never really appealed to me to take on as a serious passion. My brain tumor change many things in my life, including my ‘niches. I went from sport obsesser to musical genius. This year I am excited to add show jumper to that list. My music and show jumping are two of the main reasons I think I was made for. The third thing that I would gladly say I was put on this earth for, is to use my story to help others get through the dark times in their lives.
For those of you who don’t know me too well, my musical career started at the age of fourteen. This was when I figured that I was EXTREMELY bored. I needed a hobby. I came across another girl who had became blind and she inspired me to try music. She played the drums, thus my music started with the drums. It shortly moved on to the ukulele then singing then the guitar. I tested out the electric and base guitars but haven’t properly learned those just yet. The more I played around with different types of instruments, the more I wanted to ‘support’ the music shop that sold the instruments. The only thing stopping me from buying every single instrument in that place is the fact that my parents restrict me to my own money when buying my musical gadgets. My parents bought me my first drum set and bought my first ukulele, next is the guitar…. If I finally save up enough….
When it comes to my riding …. I would totally spend all the time I have on riding. The thrill it gives me jumping those jumps. I have a dream to take my show jumping to the highest level possible, even if it means jumping in the Olympics. One of my biggest dreams is owning my own horse…. seems impractical considering I have nowhere really to keep it. That isn’t gonna stop me though… one day….
People always ask me if I would go back and change what happened that led me to losing my vision. Honestly, I don’t know if I would…. After my operation, many things were made clear to me about people or just general everyday things. It changed my world for the better I would say. I’m one for a challenge and every day that comes never fails to bring me another challenge to demolish. It brought me the most amazing relationships with family and friends. It made me have a new look on life and it showed me why I am really here. Not going to lie, maybe life would be a tad easier if it didn’t happen but on the other hand, easy can get boring. It brought me my niches and it brought me to doing something that gives me a TRULY GRAND feeling of helping others.
All I am getting at here, is that sometimes it takes longer than we would like to find the thing you live for. It takes longer than we would like, to see the greatness in your life. I have a strong belief in the statement of “everything happens for a reason.” My life has shown me that. I have learned to be patient because things eventually work out. Just be patient… you will finally get to the realization of what you are meant to do and where you are meant to be. Life isn’t supposed to be easy; I don’t think anything should be easy. Going through the process of finding YOUR strengths, finding who YOU are, finding what YOU were made for, is the fun part.
